No, NPSP isn't going away. Salesforce still supports the Nonprofit Success Pack, and there's no deadline to leave it. What has changed: NPSP no longer gets new features, and new nonprofits now start on Agentforce Nonprofit (formerly Nonprofit Cloud). So the real question isn't "when do we have to move?" It's "would moving solve a problem we actually have?"
We get this question in almost every conversation with a nonprofit on NPSP, so here's what Salesforce has said, what it means day to day, and the simple way we help organizations decide.
What Salesforce has said
As of October 2026:
- NPSP is still supported. It hasn't been discontinued, and Salesforce hasn't announced an end-of-life or end-of-sale date. (Salesforce Ben, February 2026)
- There's no requirement to migrate. Nonprofits on NPSP can keep using it. (Same source.)
- NPSP gets no new features. Salesforce ended innovation on its nonprofit managed packages, NPSP included. New development goes into Agentforce Nonprofit.
- New nonprofits start on Agentforce Nonprofit. Since December 2025, the free licenses in Salesforce's Power of Us program are for Agentforce Nonprofit, and the "10 free NPSP licenses" option is gone. (Cloud for Good, February 2026)
- Nonprofit Cloud and Agentforce Nonprofit are the same product. Salesforce renamed it. If you've read about "NPC", this is it.
Some articles talk about an NPSP "deadline" or "end of life". Salesforce hasn't announced one. If you read that somewhere, check the date and the source.
What "no new features" means day to day
If NPSP works for your team today, it will keep working tomorrow. Your donations, households, recurring gifts and reports don't stop because development stopped.
The difference shows up over time. New capabilities land in Agentforce Nonprofit only: for example, volunteer management built into the platform and Salesforce's new AI agents. If your plans depend on those, NPSP won't grow into them. If they don't, "no new features" may simply not matter to you yet.
Move now, plan now, or stay for now
Any of these three can be the right answer. Being rushed into the first one is the wrong answer.
| When it fits | |
|---|---|
| Move now | You're about to rebuild anyway: a big data cleanup, a new program you need to track, or a setup nobody fully understands anymore. |
| Plan now, move later | NPSP works, but you want something that's only being built for Agentforce Nonprofit, like built-in volunteer management or the new AI agents. |
| Stay for now | NPSP does the job, your team is stretched, and nothing on the new platform solves a problem you actually have. |
"Stay for now" isn't the same as "never". It means you've looked at it, decided, and you'll look again when something changes: a new program, a funder reporting requirement, or staff turnover that leaves your setup harder to run.
What a move actually involves
Moving from NPSP to Agentforce Nonprofit isn't an upgrade button. Agentforce Nonprofit uses a different data model, so a migration means setting up the new platform and moving your data into it. In practice that covers:
- Your data: contacts, households or accounts, gifts, recurring donations, campaigns and their history, mapped to the new model and checked before anyone relies on it.
- Your automations: flows, rules and email alerts rebuilt for the new objects.
- Your reports and dashboards: rebuilt, so the numbers your board and funders see still match.
- Your integrations: donation forms, email tools, accounting and anything else connected to Salesforce.
- Your people: training, so the team knows where everything lives on day one.
That's why the decision deserves a real look at your org, not a rule of thumb. We've moved organizations like Latinas Contra Cancer from NPSP to Agentforce Nonprofit, and in each case the work was shaped by what their team needed, not by a deadline.
Five questions to answer before you decide
- What would we do differently on Agentforce Nonprofit? Name the feature or the problem. If you can't, you probably don't need to move yet.
- How clean is our data? A migration is a good moment for a cleanup, and a messy org takes longer to move.
- Does anyone fully understand our current setup? If the person who built it has left, that's a reason to look sooner, whether you move or not.
- What's connected to Salesforce? List every form, payment tool and integration. Each one needs a plan.
- When is a quiet time for our team? Avoid moving during your year-end campaign or a major grant deadline.
